How did I discover I was a Witch?

Image
How do you know you are a Witch? That is a very interesting question.  And more often than not... it is very hard to answer as well.  In Harry Potter it was very easy: A half-giant breaks down your door and tells you you are a wizard or a witch.  Later on, a wand magically chooses you, air moves your hair, and majestic music sounds around you.  Unfortunately, that is not how real life works.  My background Maybe I forgot to mention that I am a Witch from Spain , and I don't know how much you know about Spanish culture, but I can sum it up by saying that religion (Christian religion) was very important until a few years ago.  Nowadays, the younger generations at least, do not really believe in that so called God from the Bible. They need to see  things in order to believe  in them, which, technically, erases the concept of "believing" from its own word.  I mention that because I need you to understand that  coming out  as a witch in a very traditional and religious famil

Wicca

What is WICCA? Wicca is an alternative minority "religion" formed by witches, it originally began  in the U.K .  in the 1940s.  Wicca and Witchcraft are part of the larger contemporary pagan movement, which includes druids and heathens among others. All these spiritual paths, as we pagans refer to them, base their practices on pre-Christian religions and cultures. If I were to explain to you the more... technical part of it it would be something among the lines of: The religion differentiates itself from more mainstream religions, such as Christianity, by celebrating a Goddess as well as a God. In addition, Wicca lacks a formal institutional structure such as a church and puts more emphasis on ritual and direct spiritual experience than belief.  We are not believers, we are practitioners . We do have one Golden Rule :  “ Harm none and do as you will ,” and we really don't have a sacred book from which to take our beliefs. There are a few good reads out there, and I am pl

Us: The Witches

What is a Witch? Listen to the podcast here!  This question can be answered in many different ways. So... I am going to be splitting this HUGE question into some other... more simple ones.  What is the "current" concept of a witch? Witchcraft traditionally means the use of  magic  or supernatural powers to harm others.   A practitioner is a witch. In  medieval  and  early modern Europe , where the term originated, accused witches were usually women who were believed to have attacked their own community, and often to have communed with evil beings.  It was thought witchcraft could be thwarted by  protective magic or counter-magic , which could be provided by  cunning folk  or  folk healers . Suspected witches were also intimidated, banished, attacked, or killed. Often they would be formally prosecuted and punished if found guilty or simply believed to be guilty.  European  witch-hunts  and  witch trials in the early modern period  led to tens of thousands of executions. In so

My name is Katt and I am very happy to have you here with me today.  Today's post will be pretty simple and short, but I would like to introduce myself a bit before we actually start talking about what really matters: magick.  I would love to introduce myself as a simple human being, but... I am afraid that is not possible. Not anymore. To make it easier for everyone who is reading this, I will just create a list, since I LOVE doing lists.  Hobbies: Reading (mainly fantasy) Writing (I am a blogger after all) Painting (I love digital art and have an Instagram account just for it) Music (listening to it, or singing) Videogames (Oh my, you'll see hahaha) Movies and TV (Big fan of horror, fantasy, and adventure movies) Walking my dogs  I am sure I have a lot more hobbies (like arts and crafts), and that some of you would like to know exact examples of books (like the Percy Jackson series), bands (like Imagine Dragons), and mov
